ICC FAQ

bright.net's new Intelligent Content Control, powered by X-Stop, disables access to pornography and highly offensive material. Unlike the software packages that clever children can outsmart, our filtering system disables access before the offensive content even reaches your computer!

Content filtering disables access to:

  • Obscene and tasteless material, such as mutilation, murder, horror, executions, and extreme violence
  • Pornography, including on-line adult magazines such as Playboy, Hustler and Penthouse.
  • Content promoting criminal activity
  • Content promoting anti-government groups, terrorism, weapons and militias
  • Sites devoted to hate crimes and discrimination

Server-side Technology

Unlike software or services that you have to purchase and install on your computer, bright.net's Filtered Access is controlled on the Server-side of things (on bright.net's end). This means there are no costly fees for updating your software, there is no software to get around, and you don't have to worry about getting it installed. ICC is constantly being updated with the latest library or content, so you can feel safe that new sites are being added every day. There is no extra cost for the Intelligent Content Control Service.

Powerful Control

The web-based interface gives you full control of your filtered access. Content begins filtering once your account is activated. This is completed by giving us a call at 1-888-438-8436.  You register, we activate it, and the next time you access the Internet you are taking advantage of the best Internet Access Filtering available anywhere today.  It is really that easy!

When registering, the user will need to provide their bright.net username, their master ICC username, and a confidential password. After completing those steps, the server will then allow an individual to create up to four user profiles. These profiles will then permit the user the ability to arrange four different levels of filtering - from least to most restrictive.
